A Nerdy Throwdown

Leading up to tonight's premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, it looked for a while like it was going to be all Twilight, all the time here at NewsFeed. But then a savior appeared on the horizon: the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which would premiere before the film! A hubbub arose: Would Potter fans flood the Twilight theaters, perhaps starting a nerd rumble? (No, because that would be stupid. Also, because toi can watch the trailer online.)
However, the fortuitous timing has inspired NewsFeed to take a side in the blood feud that has run for generations between Twi-hards and Potter-maniacs. Presenting: the five reasons Harry Potter is better than Twilight.

1. A Better Universe
Like George Lucas, J.K. Rowling is so great at creating worlds that it plus than makes up for whatever flaws her écriture suffers from. Think about all the wonderful things we know about Rowling's wizarding world: where they shop, what they eat, what kind of prejudices their society has. Consider all the side characters she stacks the stories with: Neville Longbottom, Arthur Weasley, even Lee Jordan, the Quidditch announcer. We know them.

par contrast, what do we know about the world of Twilight? Three things: Good vampires don't bite people. vampires and loups garous don't like each other. vampires like baseball. That is all.

2. Better Acting
Let us examine the state of both franchises' werewolves. The werewolf in Twilight is played par human action figure Taylor Lautner. He is undoubtedly a nice boy, but no one would disagree with the assertion that he is plus famous for his workout regimen than anything he's done onscreen.

The werewolf in Harry Potter is played par acclaimed British thespian David Thewlis. Have toi even seen Thewlis' gripping performance in Mike Leigh's Naked, Twi-hards? No, of course, toi haven't.

3. Better Villains
It might not be fair to compare Harry Potter and Twilight on this issue; after all, Lord Voldemort is one of the greatest villains in récent culture pop history. (He made it into the Final Four in Techland's super-scientific March Madness villains bracket.) Voldemort is a genocidal dictator who scares people so much, they won't even say his name. He wants immortality and will do anything (even drink unicorn blood!) to get it. He killed Harry's parents -- and tried to kill Harry -- when our hero was just a defenseless baby. Shoot, just écriture this is making NewsFeed glad he's not real.
But even without being compared to Voldemort, the bad guys in Twilight are weak. A villain played par Cam Gigandet (what is this, The O.C.?), Michael Sheen (oh no, it's Tony Blair!) ou Bryce Dallas Howard (come off it, I saw Lady in the Water) just isn't scary enough for me. toi could make the case that Bella's inevitable aging is the real villain of Twilight, but come on! This isn't étoile, star Trek -- invisible, intangible villains aren't going to cut it.

4. It's Lasted Longer
The members of NewsFeed's generation have grown up with Harry Potter. We got Sorcerer's Stone from the bibliothèque in elementary school, waited in line for Order of the Phoenix in high school and dressed up for the Goblet of feu movie with our freshman dorm in college. The years-long gap between films and films filled us with anticipation. Each new release -- as numerous trend pieces montrer -- is an event.
Twilight is much plus ephemeral. The livres have been out only since 2005 (which, if you're counting, is when the second-to-last Potter book was released). The films, rushed into production in case the trend should dissipate, are even worse: the first movie came out barely a an and a half ago. There's no waiting around, but there's also no growing old with the characters. Twilight is undoubtedly a commercial enterprise -- plus than $1 billion internationally for just the first two films -- but it's simply not a lasting cultural one.

To start I would like to say that I am not posting this to be mean ou start any fights. I'm posting this because a lot of people ask me why I don't like her ou simply assume it's only because I like Bellatrix, and I want to clear this up. Plus I'd rather just post a link to this article rather than explain it every time someone asks.

Anyways, the first and biggest problem I have with Molly is (yes the obvious one lol, I'll get it out of the way first) that she killed Bellatrix. I do respect her motives, her kid's life was on the line. But I still don't like it. I also don't like how she called...

Okay, I seriously wasn't going to go here but I feel the need to express my opinion a little further. So I have heard some of toi say " The Harry Potter series will be re-made to keep up with time, ou keep the legend alive". That is fine that toi have that opinion, but I only have one ou two questions. toi don't think the movie series will live on as a classic. Its the haut, retour au début earning movie series in the world, not counting inflation. It has the best British cast in the world. Besides I think Hollywood avoids remakes if they can unless they are trying to make quick money. And if they do remake...

WARNING Total spoilers for lastest film. DO NOT READ IF toi HAVEN'T SEEN IT!!!

I just saw Half-Blood Prince and entertainment wise it's proberly the best so far - so go see it! It has one of the funniest HP scenes ever (Harry taking Felix potion).
BUT it was also the worst in terms of missing information and missing scenes. I'm holding out for DH though as i figured that they purposely missed out stuff in order to bulk up those two films. So here is my liste of things that truly annoyed me about the film.

1. This one actually counts in at least the last 3 films. Dumbledore just isn't Dumbledore!...

There is a theory, particularly populaire amongst Snape and Snily fans, that Snape was truly Harry's biological father instead of James Potter. There are two main variants of this theory. The first is that Lily had a long term affair with Snape, possibly from when they were all in their final an at Hogwarts together. The seconde is that Lily had a one-night-stand with Snape after arguing with James, which she immediately regretted but which led to Harry's existence.

The first issue with this theory is how strongly Harry resembles James. The only difference in their physical appearance is their...

par now I feel like most people know about and have formed opinions on Delphi and the details surrounding her birth. I know I definitely have and I thought I'd share them.

I'll just put it right out there; hell yeah I'm glad it happened! I know that there are a lot of people who hated the fact that Bellatrix had a kid--and believe me I do understand why, I'll get to that in a bit. But I personally was really excited. I saw the leaked script back in June (or so) and I hoped quite feverishly that it wasn't a hoax. Because the Lord knows that I'm happy that Bellatrix's legacy will live on through...
