Throughout the Harry Potter books, there are some variations between the Bloomsbury (British) and Scholastic (American) editions. Below the first section on "Philosopher's vs. Sorcerer's" is a section on other different terminologies used.

Philosopher's vs. Sorcerer's

When Scholastic was publishing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in America, they decided to rename the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. They claimed that the American and British uses of the word philosopher were a bit different, so therefore sorcerer was a plus appropriate word. Any true Harry Potter fan, American ou British, Australian ou Hungarian, I'm sure will agree with MuggleMix when we say that decision should not have been made the reasons are:
1) J.K. Rowling a dit so, therefore it must be true. She says that if she was in a better position, she would have disagreed at the time.
2) It belittles Americans, making it seem as if they do not understand what the word "philosopher" means. Americans are smarter than that.
3) Sorcerer is unspecific. The stone could have belonged to anybody with magical powers in the book. But the British name defines who the stone belongs to and gives the name an entirely different meaning. Sorcerer is a very different word to philosopher.
4) The stone is referred to as the "Philosopher's Stone" throughout J.K. Rowling's original version, never the "Sorcerer's Stone", so why should the most central object of the book be labelled something completely different in the book title, even if its just being published in a different place?
5) How is the word "philosopher" in Britain different from the word "sorcerer" in America?
6) Philosopher's Stone is actually a historical object that people used to chercher for, while the Sorcerer's Stone has no factual background in real life

Ah well...

Other Terminology

There are some other minor changes that occurred in case Americans got confused. Some ones, such as turning "mum" into "mom" and "trainers" into "sneakers", J.K. Rowling refused to let happen. However, she allowed some changes to be made that, if they were not made, would befuddle the reader:

So I've been thinking about this a lot lately...I discussed this with a friend a few months ago. We were talking about how many Christian groups (as toi well know) have condemned HP as anti-Christian. In fact, I believe that the Harry Potter story is actually a symbolization of the Christian religion.
Note: This is entirely my opinion and is not meant as "Christian propaganda" ou to offend anyone in the slightest. It is merely my opinion! :)

Harry Potter is Jesus. Whaaaaat?!
1) Both HP and Jésus were born into humble beginnings.
Jésus was born in Bethlehem, a tiny town literally in the middle...

Here's a comparison and contrast essay I wrote for school - keep in mind my English teacher has never read Harry Potter, so I had to explain stuff.

When comparing a book and a film, ou something similar, the first thing one thinks about is obviously the plot. And in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, at first glance, you'll find it's rather similar in both the book and the film. Harry, Ron and Hermione, the main trio, go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their sixth year. They're shocked when they find out that ex-Potions Master Severus Snape has been named Defence Against...

This article is reviewing his devotion as a Death Eater, his possible part in the Longbottom torture, his childhood, his father's l’amour for him - and some other things - always basing on what we can read from the Goblet of feu book. Weighting on my own interpretation, of course.

I know the vast majority of people seem to have taken a liking of the first impression the book gives on the father-son relationship, especially par Junior's own words, so I respect that view - however those are only his beliefs and not necessarely the truth and I personally like to dig deeper into the possibilities....

The speeding motorcycle took the sharp corner so fast in the darkness that both policemen in the pursuing car shouted,"Whoa!" There have been a lot of Harry Potter theories, ranging from the ridiculous to the strange to the horrifying.

I have composed a liste here.

Please commentaire any other theories toi know of that I've missed. :)

Also: there are major spoilers in some of these. suivant to each one, if there is a spoiler, I will write the book that it spoils, so if toi haven't read that one: skip that theory.

1. The Dursley Family is Justified (Spoils Deathly Hallows)

This is one of my favorites, par the way. Now, we all know that Horcruxes often corrupt people (the medallion, Riddle's diary) and Harry is, as it was revealed...

So Rowling never really discussed why Bellatrix is so obsessed with Voldemort. And I constantly ponder upon how anyone could find that no-nosed snake-man-boy attractive in any way. With that a dit I wanted to post a few of my theories as well as some of the interesting ones I've seen across the net. Once again, as stated, these are just theories and speculations. No more, no less.

First and foremost I think it's a pretty sûr, sans danger bet to say that she loves him ou at least started to l’amour him based on the fact that they share similar ideologies. Both loved the idea of pure-blood supremacy. A lot of...

Thanks to zanhar1 for the idea. it was brilliant xD

*Also like to point out, this is like a crack!fic so non of the characters will act like they usally do*

It took a lot of yelling and arguing, but Bellatix finally did it. She finally got Voldemort to go to the plage with her.
Once they got to the plage they both hissed at the sunlight. They weren't too fond of it since they preferred the dark, If toi couldn't tell from their pasty pale skin.
Bellatrix had pick out a nice maillot de bain to montrer off for the lord, since she really wanted him to like her. Voldemort on the other hand, was covered head...

I found an interesting short essay from HP Lexicon and it made me think about it even deeper than it goes.

First off; please don't get me wrong.
I l’amour Dumbledore's character, I l’amour Lockhart's character, I l’amour Hogwarts, and I love, love, love the livres and the HP universe. I'm just wondering and interested in what, if anything, is behind all this I'm about to discuss.
That if Rowling possibly actually planned this somehow and for some reason many parents in that universe are willing to over-look huge problems and risk their children's lives because of someone's status and précédant reputation...OR...
