I mark myself a Slytherin. Yepp, I a dit it and I feel no shame.

After all, we can't say that all of them are bad. (Regulas Black, and Severus Snape being notable examples.) as well as Narcissa Malfoy and Horace Slughorn (the fun, jolly fellow he is)(As noted in comments)

Its just a house with a bad rap, because of a few bad people.

Saying all Slytherins are evil would be like saying Germany is an evil, and horrible country JUST because Adolf Hitler originated there.

My personal opinion is that, yes some Slytherins went as bad as toi could go, but others just got wrapped up in the "misconceptions."

Many Slytherins are not evil, they are strong willed, independent, ambitious, and cunning people who desire to be the best.

And on a further note, lets look at a few less then 'chivilrous' Gryffindors.
Peter Pettigrew- Enough a dit I do believe.

James Potter, however Rebelle and loyal, was an arrogant bully.

Did the king Gryffindor himself, Albus Dumbledore not dabble (however temporarily) in the Dark Arts himself?

So what say toi Gryffindors, who have turned blind eyes to your fellows, who are less then Gryffindor-esque

Dumbledore said, "Its our choices that make us who we are"

So weather a person is evil ou not, isnt based on the house they were put in, its based off of they choices thay make within that house.

Do they choose to conform to the hipe, and be evil, muggle hating freaks, ou do they choose to be good, and attempt to break the reputation?

SLYTHERINS AREN'T EVIL

Just leave us alone people.

LadyNottingham You forgot Horace Slughorn. If there's an embodiment of how fun-loving and jolly good fellows Slytherins can be, he's the man. Besides, let's have a look at that other interesting fellow named Peter Pettigrew. What was his house ? Ah I see, Gryffindor ! These are two examples that people are not black and white, they come in all shades of gray.

BlackHound Don't forget Andromeda Black, sister of Bellatrix and Narcissa, who was disowned for having the good sense to make a "bad marriage" with the Muggle-born Ted Tonks. It's simply ignorant to say all Slytherins are evil, or that all Death Eaters/Voldemort supporters came from Slytherin House; not everyone in the Dark Lord's camp even attended Hogwarts. I'm still trying to figure out how in the Hell that coward Pettigrew got in to Gryffindor. See, I think the Sorting Hat is daft.

roseteaxx Well said! :) (And I was always wondering why Pettigrew was in Gryffindor. It's not the fact that he's a bad guy, it's just that he's probably one of the least courageous people in the books...)

Misguided_Angel actuallt dannylynn, that was only to get my point across, read the context surrounding it. I was comparing voldemort to hitler, not slytherin

The date of Grindelwald's duel with Dumbledore coincides with the downfall of Nazi Germany. Grindelwald adopted an ancient symbol as his symbol (the symbol of the Deathly Hallows) just as the Nazis adopted the swastika, itself an ancient symbol. What's more, the prison Nurmengard shares a similar name to the Bavarian city of Nuremberg, where war criminal trials of former Nazis were held. Nurmengard's dual role as prison to both the victims and later the perpetrator may be a reference to Nuremberg's dual significance in World War II, which, aside from being the site of the Nuremberg Trials, was also the site of the proposal and adoption of the Nuremberg Laws, infamous discriminatory laws against Jewish people. It also bears a sign that reads "For the Greater Good", which may correspond to the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign (German for "Work Makes [Man] Free") which hung above the entrance to Auschwitz. Grindelwald never gained power in Britain for he feared Dumbledore. Incidentally, Britain was one of the few countries in Europe not Axis-controlled. Misguided_Angel @simpleplan. That is insane information! Awesome, really, I didnt know most of that. I guess in their own way, both Grindelwald and Voldemort bare resemblances to Hitler.
