Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara had a whirlwind romance and I like many believe they truly were in l’amour with each-other ( always&forever) and the only ones for one another. Rhett a dit " I knew toi were the one ( only woman) for me since I first laid eyes on toi at Twelve Oaks" - and even before that on the road to Tara together he confessed that he loved her and that they belong together both of them being so much alike. Which is so true. Scarlett didn't marry her first two husbands out of love, she married one out of jealousy the other for money. Rhett is her true l’amour and as she says at the end " I do l’amour toi Rhett I was just too stupid before not to realize I do" (paraphrased). She had a stupid southern-belle school girl crush on Ashley Wilkes and ONLY THOUGHT she loved him. But she didn't l’amour him truly and he didn't l’amour her back. That is the tragedy of the movie- par the time she realizes she is deeply in l’amour with Rhett like she too had been since she danced with him at the Atlanta Bazaar ( In my opinion) - he was so depressed from their daughter Bonnie dying and Melanie Wilkes dying that he needed to get away - In my opinion for a awhile. I do believe that they found happiness again. After all I don't believe they got a divorce, they were still married when he left, he just was again depressed and fed up/ caught up in the moment. She was still his wife. Another proof that they are truly meant for each-other is that they were always there for each-other and were sorry for the things they a dit that hurt one another. Also their marriage was passionate and lasted ( I don't believe her other two would have even if her husbands had lived). Even though he forced himself upon her that one evening- I believe Scarlett after a few moments gave in because she knew she wanted to have passionate sex with him and she was very happy the suivant morning. Rhett I don't believe really wanted a divorce either and was all the while being hypocritical about one thing himself " God help the man who truly loves you"-when that man was Rhett himself-Even his friend Belle Watling a dit "Rhett you're poisoned with her- toi are madly in l’amour with her I can tell" ( paraphrased). After Londres I think they were testing each-other when they should have been happy together with their daughter and even-though out of her stubborn southern-belle stupid mouth came the words " toi know I don't want this child and I wish It was anybody's but yours!" (paraphrased) - she wanted to have that baby, I believe in her lit she is even calling out for Rhett after her miscarriage. Rhett felt terrible about her fall, was crying even - THAT'S TRUE LOVE. They both a dit things in the heat of the moment they didn't mean at all. The fact remains the tragedy of their true l’amour for one another, and Scarlett not realizing she deeply loves Rhett at a sooner rendez-vous amoureux, date and time in their marriage. But as she a dit " After all Tomorrow is another day" . And I believe that " Tomorrow" brought them back together and with the happiness and peace of mind they finally deserved- WITH EACHOTHER.
