There were plus requests for the I Got a Boy album than the other songs/albums on my poll, so it's only fair that I write a review for it. Here goes:
I Got a Boy: 9/10
This is the song that got me into KPOP. I heard Gee first, but then when I heard this, I didn't even realize that I was listening to the song everywhere I went. I l’amour the song now, it just sounds a little weird since the transitions weren't as smooth as they could have been. But, global, ensemble it's a really good song, and most people agree since it made a huge impact on 2013.
Dancing Queen: 8/10
I liked the song at first, but then I heard the song live. I know Tiffany had vocal nodules and throat surgery before, so it made sense why I didn't l’amour her high notes. I thought everyone else would do fine, but considering how they were chant the song almost 5 years after they recorded it, they didn't sound that great. So, do yourself a favor and listen to the recorded version, not the live version.
Baby Maybe: 9.5/10
It sounds great, and the girls sound like angels. Also, Yuri, Sooyoung, and Seohyun wrote the whole song. The only thing I can't take seriously is when they sing "Put your hands up if toi feel like this." It always reminds me of 2PM when they sing that.
Talk Talk: 9/10
If most of toi heard the song, you'll think it's just a Korean version of their Japanese single "Boomerang," when in reality, they recorded this song in 2008 before it swapped for Dancing Queen, and that was eventually swapped out for Gee. I l’amour the meaning behind the song, and I like it plus than Boomerang because it doesn't have that weird chorus when they go "Boom Boom, loving you." It's worth listening to, though.
Promise: 8.5/10
I like the song now, but the first time I heard the song, I skipped it because I thought that the chorus was really corny. The "What about us, what about love," part was the line that I cringed at. Don't get me wrong though, the girls sound amazing, I just wish it had better lines.
Express 999: 10/10
I l’amour this song and everything about it. It's catchy and again, the girls sounded great. I'd recommend this song to anyone and everyone, since it's just a great song!
Lost in Love: 9/10
Everyone dubs this song as TaeNy's song, mainly because it does seem like it. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of TaeNy, but toi can't deny that they sounded pretty good chant together. But, I really hate the ending when it fades out. It feels cut off.
Look at Me: 10/10
It's one of my favori SNSD songs ever! It's 3 minutes of heavenly paradise. The only thing is that I wish it could be longer.
XYZ: 9/10
Another song penned par Yuri and Seohyun. I swear I wish there would be an album where all the members, especially Yuri, Sooyoung, and Seohyun, would write all the songs. I really like the song, I just wish that there was less autotune.
Romantic St.: 10/10
It's a perfect song that showcases how great they sing. Plus, I'm a fan of any song that starts with a piano!
Recommendations: Basically the whole album is worth listening to!
Least favori song: Dancing Queen
So, what's your favoris from the album and do toi think it could be a good idea if SNSD wrote their own songs? Leave it in the commentaires below along with suggestions for other reviews!
