German Shepherds Question

German shepherd lovers- please can toi help:

I l’amour german shepherds, and i have always wanted one. i know all about them and what's involved with owning one, but the problem is that i have lots of chats and i'm worried that if i get a GS i might come accueil one jour and find it has killed one of them ou something, because i know that they can be ferocious sometimes. i know that if toi buy a GS as a chiot so that it gets used to chats then it will probably be okay but i'm just a bit worried because toi read in the papers about really nice chiens suddenly turning and attacking, and my chats wouldn't stand a chance if that happened. i've looked after other people's german shepherds and i know everything there is to know about the chiens themselves, the only problem is the cats. i don't know what to do about my situation.
does anyone have any ideas?
is your german shepherd OK with cats?

Thanks xx
Lottie

if they grow up together ou just mainly if the gs grows up with a cat then it should be fine because then they will be used to it
i kno its not the same but i have a st.bernaird/lab mix and he grew up with chats and the only thing he does and rarely does is chase and if he does he gets in trouble so u can also teach your dog not to mess with them if they do they get in trouble

I think maybe toi could leave your chats inside and the gs outside. That's what i would do.

Well, I have a Pit taureau, bull not a GS, but I think they're cool all the same and I think if toi get it as a chiot and keep it in a fenced off area for a while that he/she will slowly but surely grow around cats...

I had one German Shepherd that we found as a adult and he LOVED my three cats, he even cuddled with them, but it all depends on the dog, so i would get it as chiots and have it socialize with the chats at a very early age, hope i could help! :)

The cat that I had always slept and barley moved (zombie cat), so it didn't bother my GS. If toi have a hyper cat, it MIGHT try to play of bite it. But I've never seen one attack a cat. Just birds D: I don't think it'll do any harm to them at all.
