To be honest, I'm fine with people having headcanons that they are certain orientations. Obviously, being single doesn't automatically make them gay, but it doesn't mean they can't be gay either. So think of them as whatever orientation toi want!

And he made it perfectly clear when she comes back to attempt to get him to save her life, too... he was a disgrace to his gender par attempting to get a job via murder.
