The remaining parts of the flaming base, which had been standing sturdy, despite the flames, suddenly crashed to the ground, sending dust everywhere. Kait coughed and tried to shake her feathers free of the dust, but soon realised she couldn't déplacer her back ou legs. Kowalski cast her a worried look, then focused back on the base.
"Did they make it?" He asked.
"I-I don't know, there's rubble everywhere." Emma replied anxiously, beginning to walk closer to the fiery remains, putting the blood sample in her drawstring bag as she did. Ashley followed her and they began to look for their friends, hoping they had survived. Nearby, Kiva crawled to a rock and coughed weakly. She was covered in so much rubble and dust, she could barely even see. A little to her right, Cam, who had been thrown to the ground during the blast, groaned in pain.
"Madi?" He asked, looking down at her with worry. Madi coughed and opened her eyes.
"I'm fine. Barely anyway." She replied, briefly forgetting she was still in Cam's flippers.
"M-Madi, toi almost died!" Cam exclaimed, looking straight into her eyes.
"I know. I'm sorry." She apologized.
"For what? It's not your fault." Cam told her.
"Still, I almost got us all killed." Madi pointed out.
"Gee.. you.. think?" Kiva remarked slowly, coughing again.
"Sorry." Madi said.
"Uh Madi.." Cam began, realising something. "You do realize you're still in my flippers, right?" He asked.
"Oh God I am so so sorry!" Madi exclaimed, blushing slightly.
"No need to be sorry. " Cam told her gently. Madi blushed a little deeper and just smiled in response. Meanwhile, Emma and Ashley ran over to the three, their eyes wide with worry.
"Guys! Is everyone alright? " Emma asked. Ashley spotted Kiva and his eyes widened even more.
"Are toi alright lass?" He asked, walking over to her. Kiva didn't reply, and she tried to stand up, but just fell over.
"Woah, be careful, toi don't look so good." Ashley told her, looking alarmed. He helped Kiva up and walked her slowly away from the rubble. He sat Kiva down on the soft herbe and began gently brushing the rubble and dust off his friend. "Are toi okay Kiva?" He asked anxiously. "Where are toi injured?"
"I'm just feeling dizzy and I don't know where I'm injured." Kiva replied, coughing again. A look of worry crossed Ashley's face and he patted Kiva's back, hoping she'd stop coughing. She gradually stopped and she blinked a few times, trying to make her dizziness stop.
Meanwhile, Emma walked over to Madi and Cam, worriedly.
"Are toi two okay?" She asked. As she looked down at the two, her eyebrows shot up, when she noticed Madi was in Cam's arms.
Am I interrupting something? She wondered, a small smile tugging at her beak.
"We're just fine." Madi giggled.
"Very." Cam added, smirking.
"Shut it!" Madi joked, giggling again. Emma's eyes widened further and she put her flippers up as if to say 'Okaay, I'll just leave toi two alone then....' and walked towards Kiva and Ashley, chuckling to herself. Madi smiled and her eyes fell on Kiva properly for the first time since the explosion. "Oh god, Kiva!" She exclaimed.
"Is it bad that we just noticed?" Cam asked, letting go of Madi.
"Well with our little "moment" it's kind of hard to notice anything else." Madi pointed out with a smile, running over to Kiva. "Tell me, where does it hurt?" She asked.
"I told toi I don't know where I'm injured." Kiva replied, coughing again. "Oh geez, I'm dizzy."
"Do toi want to lay down lass, toi might feel less dizzy?" Ashley suggested. "Your arm's a bit cut up." He pointed out.
"Woah, so are your legs." Emma added, walking up to them, and nodding at Kiva's legs. Kiva looked at Ashley and coughed more.
"She might have head injuries." Cam said, crouching suivant to the others.
"Don't worry, Kiva." Madi told her reassuringly. Suddenly, a loud gunshot echoed through the clearing and Madi turned around in confusion. "OH **** CAM!" She yelled. Cam turned around swiftly and noticed the land leopard joint, joint d’étanchéité minions crawling out of the rubble, pistolets in their long, bony fingers.
"They're not gonna hurt toi again." Cam said, taking out a couteau and facing the monsters. "Get everyone out of here!" He ordered, clenching his flippers.
"Right." Madi agreed, picking up Kiva.
Meanwhile, Kait crawled towards one of the monsters, snapping her teeth at it.
"Oh no toi don't!" Kowalski told her sternly, picking her up and carrying her away.
"Kowalski!" Kait complained, glaring at the monster, then him. The monsters got a bit closer to the group, and Cam glared at them.
"Get away from here, everyone! NOW!" Cam told the group."
"And leave toi here? I'm not leaving toi here!" Madi exclaimed.
"Think rationally, Madi! Please!" Cam replied.
"No! I can help!" Madi protested, running over to Cam. "Just let me."
"Madi, please." Cam said, in a gentle tone.
"Fine." Madi sighed, putting Kiva down for a seconde and hugging him. "Please be careful."
"I will, trust me." Cam replied. Madi picked up Kiva again, and glanced at the group.
"Come on, everyone. We need to get out here!"
