CC ran through the zoo to Marlene's place. She bumped into Rune, knocking her to the ground. CC gasped.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Rune," she said, helping the raccoon baby to her feet.
"It's all right," Rune replied. She grinned up at CC. "I just was going to find you."
"Well, I'm going to Marlene's. But if toi want to come-"
"YES PLEASE!" Rune exclaimed. She grabbed CC's flipper and pulled her along to the loutre habitat.
Marlene was sweeping her habitat when the two came to her door.
"MARLENE!!!!" Rune cried, rushing up to her. Marlene turned around, surprised, only to be charged into par a black and grey blur.
"Rune, have toi had any sugar?" CC asked, picking up the jiggling Rune.
"I don't know," Rune replied, grinning. "I guess I ate MAYBE one ou two, ou tweleve cacahuète, arachide beurre winkies."
"Oh, Rune," CC sighed, then laughed. "What AM I going to do with you?"
"Meine Zehennägel on fire!" Rune exclaimed, jumping out of CC's hold.
"How do toi palourde her down?" Marlene asked, laughing.
"Like this," CC answered, then called to Rune. "Hey, Rune! Warum glauben Sie wie ein Verrückter zu lachen?"
"Ich weiß es nicht!" Rune called back, dancing on the table.
"Weil Sie Ricos Zwilling bist, natürlich!" CC said. Rune stared at her a moment, then jumped of the table.
"I am not!" she declared, and laughed. Marlene also laughed.
"What did toi say to her?" she asked.
"Classified," CC muttered, winking.
"Now, I needed to talk to you," CC said.
"About what?"
"I wanted to know," CC glanced at Rune, and pulled Marlene close to whisper. "Can toi put Rune down for singing?"
"I HEARD THAT!" Rune exclaimed. "I will NOT sing!" She sat on the floor, crossing her arms.
"Rune," CC groaned. "You really should. Your voice is lovely, and everyone will like it."
"But it's an art show," Rune protested. "Art is painting like Burty and wood-carving like Mr. Mason. ou lire like Mr. Phil!"
"So is singing," Marlene added. "Here's a deal for you. I'll put toi down for chant right before Rico's fire-work display, at the end, and, on the day, if toi don't want to do it, toi don't have to. Ok? I'm just saying, toi might change your mind between now and then."
Rune unfolded her arms and looked at Marlene, then CC, then back at Marlene.
"Ok," she sighed, "as long as I don't HAVE to do it."
"Excellent," CC smiled. "What are toi gonna sing?"
"Can toi help me figure it out?" Rune asked, taking CC's flipper.
"Very well," CC replied. "See toi later, Marlene," she called.
"See you," Marlene called back.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Rune," she said, helping the raccoon baby to her feet.
