Emma Watson went to a silent retreat before her break-up

When most of us are contemplating a break-up we’ll chat about it with girlfriends over a bottle of wine. But no chatting for Emma Watson. No siree.

Just before she split from her rugby-player boyfriend Matthew Janney late last year she went to a retreat where she couldn’t talk for an entire week. We mean AT ALL. Not even when people said "leviosa" wrong.

September issue she talks about how she chose to be alone with her own thoughts as a way to figure out who she was. "I felt really uncomfortable," she says. "Even before my relationship ended, I went on a silent retreat because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself."

She reportedly headed to a private facility in Canada\'s Rocky Mountains and took a week-long vow of silence. She said the break-up was "horrible".
