Guy de Maupassant and Edgar Allan Poe have always
fascinated the literary and film world par their
extraordinary style of narrator and storyteller, their admirable ability of literary creation.

"Fear through the stories" is a new book which assembles some of the excellent short stories ou talls of two great authors (Edgar A. Poe and Maupassant) in which are found similarities in the stories and literary style.

TRUE! nervous, very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why WILL toi say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my senses, not destroyed, not dulled them. Above all was the sense of hearing acute. I heard all things in the heaven and in the earth. I heard many things in hell. How then am I mad? Hearken! and observe how healthily, how calmly, I can tell toi the whole story.

It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain, but, once conceived, it haunted me jour and night. Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He...

The stories they have a dit were true
There was once a young girl like me and you
That loved to read Edgar Allen Poe
How her cœur, coeur felt lire his tales of woe

She lived in the 1800's
Rebellious, young and dark
She wanted to be a young Joan of Arc
As she ran away to see Poe

Virginia to Boston, a long long rode
As her parents were waiting for her at her humble abode
Then, she felt disbelief when she heard
The madness of Edgar Allen Poe

People disapproved of him
Trying to ruin her long strange trip
But she still goes on saying
She longs to hear his tales of murder, l’amour and woe

One jour she stumbled to a home...

*To me the poem represents the transitory, ephemeral nature of time and our existence. When we meet a lover it's is like we pick up a handful of sand and as the years go par the sand slowly creeps through our fingers. No matter how hard ou how desperately toi try, toi cannot stop the cascading sand, until toi and your lover divisé, split and the last grain of sand has fallen. Then all toi have left is a memory. And when toi and your ex-lover pass on that memory is Lost in time: like a dream within a dream. The seconde half seems to be about our own mortality and the nature of our existence. Once the...

Ok so my class saw a video on his life today....saaaaaad. Literally nothing went right for this dude. I mean even tho he wrote some damn good prose because of it, I wouldnt wish that much distress on anybody...ever. Most disturbing was the way in which he died. Nobody will ever know for sure, but the theory that he was used as a repeat voter is quite tragic. Possibly my fav story par him is The Masque of the Red Death...if u haven't read it, do do now. It's pretty badass.

Anyway, I'm supposed to be doing homework. But like, nawww. So yeah. I wonder if there will be a movie made about his life where someone actually plays him. I'd pay to c that any day.

Have any I'd u heard Vincent price's lire of The Raven....makes it 10 and 1/2 times scarier.

So long! :D

"LA MUSIQUE," says Marmontel, in those "Contes Moraux"* which in all our translations, we have insisted upon calling "Moral Tales," as if in mockery of their spirit -- "la musique est le seul des talents qui jouissent de lui-meme; tous les autres veulent des temoins." He here confounds the pleasure derivable from sweet sounds with the capacity for creating them. No plus than any other talent, is that for musique susceptible of complete enjoyment, where there is no seconde party to appreciate its exercise. And it is only in common with other talents that it produces effects which may be fully enjoyed...
