The Post-Renaissance Films are always judged as the worst era for Disney, and I noticed people do not talk about this group of films a lot, so I did a countdown of the Worst to Best. Some of the results are not surprising AT ALL, while others were very shocking. Here are the results
15. accueil on the Range
This film is commonly known as "Disney's Worst Film", as it flopped in the box office, and got bad critical reception. From the beginning of the round, accueil on the Range had the most votes, and no other movie was even close to getting the amount of votes that accueil on the Range, and it to eliminated (SHOCK, not). People a dit this movie was very bad, just so bad. They did not have much to say, except that it was bad, like Chicken Little. Literally.
Comments
- Really bad. And Chicken Little (AllegroGiocoso)
- And Chicken Little (princecatcher93)
14. Dinosaur
During it'a initial release in 2000, it was a box-office success, making over $340 million, but it got mixed reviews. In the beginning of the round, most of the votes were divisé, split between Dinosaur and Chicken Little, but Dinosaur got eliminated, receiving half of the votes. People a dit that although it has cool CG animation, the entire movie is du and forgettable. A lot of people did not like the dialogue in the film, and people even a dit it does not seem Disney.
Comments
- Would have been better without the dialogue (Snickerz911411)
- I've never enjoyed this film; I think the animation is weird and the dialogue ruins what potential it had (TheCrystalRing)
13. Chicken Little
toi would think that a film that made over $310 million would be a hit right? That is not the case. It may have reversed the financial slump of the 2000s, but it only made the crustal slump worse, receiving mixed to negative reviews. People a dit that this film is one of Disney's worst, and that it was a catastrophe. They also a dit that it does not feel like a Disney film, and it is an embarrassment to the company. This film got 61% of the votes and this round had literally no competition.
Comments
- I'm surprised it wasn't eliminated earlier (anjastt9)
- An embarrassment to Disney (Mongoose09)
12. Meet the Robinsons
Meet the Robinsons did modestly at the box office, making almost $170 million, and got mixed critical reception. From the beginning, it was in the lead to be eliminated, and it got 45% of the votes. People did not say much about this movie, and since this movie did not do too well, it signals that it is forgettable. People just a dit that this ou Treasure Planet should leave.
Comments
- Not crazy for MTR (kenzieiscool)
- ou Treasure Planet (princecatcher93)
11. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
When Atlantis: The Lost Empire was released, it did very modestly at the box office, making over $180 million and got mixed to negative reviews. This, and some of the some of the other films that came out in the beginning of this era would either suffer from losses, ou barely make any money. This movie was tied with Treasure Planet for the most votes for a while, but around midway in the round, Treasure Planet stopped getting votes, while Atlantis only gained votes. people a dit that this film feels like a film from another company, and not Disney. People also a dit that it is very boring and bland.
Comments
- Boring (cruella)
- I think Treasure Planet is marginally better than this (Mongoose09)
10. Treasure Planet
par the reactions this film made in he last round, it was clear Treasure Planet was not goin to last in the countdown much longer. When it was released, it did not make back its $140 million budget, only making a bit over $109 million. This film is what caused Disney's crash to rock bottom. Despite it flopping in the box office, it got mixed to positive reviews. The voters a dit that it was unforgettable, so not Disney, and just plain bad. It had a little bit of competition with Brother ours in the beginning of the round, but that soon ended.
Comments
- I also l’amour Brother Bear. It's not a perfect film, but incredibly enjoyable.
I don't remember much of Treasure Planet, and I saw it last year. Not a good sign (kenzieiscool)
- I don't like it at all! The only thing about this movie I actually like is Jim Hawkins (KataraLover)
9. Brother ours
When this film was released in 2003, it did well at the box office, making over $250 million at the box office, but received mixed to negative reviews. It was tied with Lilo and Stitch for the most votes in the first hour, but Brother ours quickly gained votes. People a dit that the characters and the entire movie is not memorable, and not as great as the others.
Comments
- No memorable characters (cruella)
- It's a cute movie, but not as good as the others (anjastt9)
8. Fantasia 2000
This film declared that the Disney Renaissance has ended. When this film was released in theatres, it didn't make a lot of money. Sure it made over it's budget par $10 million, but it made a bit over $90 million. Despite its poor box office performance, the critics loved it, as it gained a lot of positive reviews. In this round, the cotes were spread between three films (Fantasia 2000, The Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo & Stitch) A lot of people a dit that it's not that the film was bad, but it was not their taste, and it did not compare to the remaining films.
Comments
- It's better than the original, but I still don't like it at all (KataraLover)
- Not bad, just not my taste (Mongoose09)
7. The Emperor's New Groove
This film did not do very well in the box office. With a $100 million budget, it only made $169 million. Even though it did not make lot of money in the box office, critics and audiences liked it a lot. What is interesting about this round is that the two early post-renaissance films (this and Lilo & Stitch) were the two that had the most votes, but then Bolt got plus votes than Lilo & Stitch, and was close to getting plus votes than The Emperors New Groove. People a dit that it has too much humour and not enough heart, which is uncommon for a Disney film. They also found it hard to choose it in this round.
Comments
- I just think it's too much humour and not enough cœur, coeur (AllegroGiocoso)
- It is getting really hard now (BKG201)
[b] 6. Bolt
When Bolt was released, it was a success; the first critical and financial success the studio had in years. T made a bit less than $310 million at the box office, and got a lot of great reviews. In this round, most of the votes went to either Bolt ou Winnie the Pooh, and the films constantly switched as the movie with the most votes, but eventually, Bolt got the most votes. People a dit that it lacked the magic and nostlalgia that the other films had, and some thought that it was just forgettable compared to the remaining films left.
Comments
- Lilo and Stitch is a poésie animated film, such a beautiful movie. Raiponce and Princess and the Frog has this "magical" factor that attracts children, Wreck-it-Ralph is amazing, so I understand why people are torn between Winnie the Pooh and Bolt. My vote was for Bolt because Pooh is such an iconic character if my childhood, and even though Bolt is funny and lighthearted, it could be Dreamworks ou Sony animation ou whatever, it isn't "Disney material" (PrimrosePalace)
- I don't remember anything from it, not a good sign (dimitri_is_hot)
5. Winnie the Pooh
When Winnie the Pooh was released, it was not a hit; a lot of peoe did not even know it was in theatres. It did not do well in the box office, making just over $33 million worldwide, with a $30 million budget. It got a lot if positive reviews, but due to the poor performance of this film, Disney announced they will be foing CGI from them on. People a dit that this film was not a good choice to help revive traditional animation, as it has been done many times since the 1960. They a dit that outside of the nostalgia, it is way too short, and falls flat compared to the other four films.
Comments
- It's just too short. That's my main complaint
It was still really good, and it makes sense why Disney made the film. It had the nostalgic factor for adults, and it appealed to younger kids. And I'm glad they were making plus traditional like Winnie cartoons. It's a good adaption, but it just falls flat in comparison to the other four films on this liste (kenzieiscool)
- I like it, but it's kind of too silly, and not as good as the original. Plus I absolutely l’amour the others (KataraLover)
4. Wreck-It Ralph
A lot of people a dit that this was the hardest round yet, as the remaining four are all good quality films. Wreck-It Ralph was a big success for Disney, making over $430 million worldwide, and received mostly positive reviews. All four films got some votes, but a majority voted for Wreck-It Ralph for the simple reason being that the other three were better, and a bit plus appealing
Comments
- Just par a bit (AllegroGiocoso)
- I l’amour all of them, but the others much plus (KataraLover)
[b] 3. The Princess and the Frog
When this movie was released, it made almost $268 million at te box office, and got many positive reviews. This movie helped renew interest in Walt Disney animation Studios, but the company were expecting bigger numbers (with their record in the 2000s, they should be happy this movie was a success). In the semi-final round, all three films got a fair share of votes, and PatF got the most votes, even though one person commented, and the other 2 films got minimum 5 commentaires each. So I threw a rig checker between it and Raiponce to see if I qould get the same results, and PatF still Lost with about 60% of the votes. People a dit even though they like both films, Raiponce is plus enjoyable and entertaining to watch.
Comments
- I watched both recently, but Raiponce is plus entertaining in my book (AllegeoGiocoso)
- I really like The Princess and the Frog, but I really l’amour Raiponce (Anonheart998)
2. Raiponce
When Raiponce was released, it did really well. It made almost $600 million (the seconde highest grossing Disney film), and got a lot of positive reviews, and also helped revive interest in the studio. It was pretty obvious that this movie and Lilo & Stitch were the final two movies, so this round was going to be interesting. Raiponce had the most votes from the beginning, and received 64% of the votes. People a dit that the comedy is too forced/corny, and that it seems like Dreamworks take on Rapunzel, giving Raiponce 2nd place.
Comments
- It's not a bad movie, but IMO it is a very unnatural and forced movie - everything about it is forced - the characters, the movies, the script (particularly Flynn's quotes) and the humour especially, most people seem to find it funny, which is fine, but it's just so unnatural. It has good animation and a good plot, but that's about it. I cannot get into this movie because it's so contrived; nothing comes naturally (Mongoose09)
1. Lilo and Stitch
This movie was released when Disney was at rock bottom, and was the only hit they would have until later in the decade. It made over $270 million at the box office, and it got positive reviews. People a dit that the movie knew when to install jokes, when to be serious, and is a very balanced film. People liked the characters and the well-paced relationships. They thought that it was better-paced than Tangled, and that t deserved to be 1st place.
commentaires
- Lilo and Sitch is one of my favori Disney films (kenzieiscool)
