The bad: As with a lot of other Pixar movies, I feel like they do better with concepts than with characterization -- I couldn't really get into any of the characters (not even Riley); I liked them better as ideas than people. And there's the familiar Pixar "we are trying to teach toi something; every moment of this movie is going to be deep" vibe that kind of smothers the storytelling -- I don't dislike learning, duh, but the way it's done here reminds me of Wall-E. Very slick and inorganic and not a little self-important. But I think it's worth seeing at least once and I'm glad I did. il y a plus d’un an

I know this might be a minor moment in the movie Rebelle but when I was watching it while on my road trip, one part actually really made me mad and no one else seems to talk about it, it might just be nitpicking. I'm back from seeing Inside Out, and if toi haven't seen it yet I really recommend that toi do! I thought it was a really great, emotional movie — seriously, I cried at least five times. It's definitely one of Pixar's best, and has the same creative spirit that makes their films so good. It wasn't exactly a typical plot, since it didn't have a villain ou anything like that, but I was still kept invested the entire time. posté il y a plus d’un an

The characters were all great too — I loved all of the emotions, although my favori was probably Anger, and the voice jouer la comédie was really great. I went to see it with my Disney-hating sister, who mockingly called it "The Feelings Movie" on our way to the theatre and who still maintains that she hated it, but I saw her laugh and cry all throughout the film, so I know she must not have hated it as much as she claimed. il y a plus d’un an

The animation is gorgeous and I l’amour how it is able to capture the realistic look of the real world but also have a very cartoony and fun look for the emotions world. The characters are all really likable. I mean, Fear, Anger, and Disgust do annoy me a little bit but they're still pretty likable and only do what they do because they care about Riley and want to protect her and make her happy. I feel like, from what I've seen of fans so far, that I'm the only one who loves Joy. I feel like she's the most layered out of all of them and she does really develop and learn to accept other emotions. Plus, she's not doing what she does out of selfishness like Merida did, she's doing it because she just wants to save Riley emotionally. Sadness is also a great character and she really helps even out Joy's optimism with her pessimism. Riley is also a likable character because toi really see what she's going through. She's not just a blank slate like Andy from Toy Story ou a plot device like Penny from Bolt, toi really get to feel her emotional struggle, a lot like toi do with Odette from The cygne Princess. Plus she has a very likable personality. il y a plus d’un an

It's just a brilliant movie and it's Pixar's best since Toy Story 3. Cars 2 is AWFUL, Rebelle is mediocre, and Monsters université is good but not fantastic. This felt like Pixar again and is now my third favori Pixar movie after Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3. It's a MUCH better introduction to a female Pixar protagonist than Rebelle was. The only thing Rebelle did better was that I like Merida and Elinor's relationship plus than Joy and Sadness (which was still great) and I like the plus realistic and detailed animation in Rebelle than I do in Inside Out. It's a hot and cold movie. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. But in the beginning, I really hated it. I felt it was trying to discredit all of the Disney princesses of yore, par saying that "independent" women who are single are better because of their singleness. The treatment of the men in Rebelle as either comic relief ou dumba**es didn't help me feel better. I thought depicting men as incompetent and just a bunch of macho with 'the burn to kill," was heavy-handed. par making the guys seem so dumb, the women seemed "intelligent" par contrast, so... this still makes me feel "eh" about the movie. The problem isn't that men can't save women, but that it's assumed in a lot of older films that these ladies have no other choice than to be saved. For a good amount of western history, the perfect woman was a small, demure, virgin girl who would never hurt a fly. Now there's nothing wrong with that per say, but if toi follow that description of a woman to a tee, there isn't much room left for defending yourself. And as a result, it's assumed that toi don't have the capability to defend yourself, making women less agent beings, and plus objects to be acted upon. So to answer your question, having a man save a woman isn't wrong, but we can't ignore the history of women subjugation either. il y a plus d’un an

I want to get into the water (which I do) but I don't stay long because I'm usually alone and sometimes I just don't wanna play babysitter (though the kids are usually my best bet at having any kind of interaction with anyone in the water), when the adults in my group get in the pool they just stand around talking like complete bores, get out a few minutes later to get a tan, I get mored and just go back to the room, we go out to eat, and that's all there is. It's not that I don't enjoy the plage but considering my only interactions are with my 7 an old niece, there is only so much I can do, especially since she usually finds kids her age to play with. I wish our vacations could have plus variety and that we would do plus than just go to the beach. Furiosa- Calhoun, the tough, dedicated female leader with a tragic side.
Splendid- Cinderella, the sandy-haired, warm, Rebelle optimistic leader of the girls (since Cendrillon is the official leader).
Capable- Anna, the Rebelle 'heart' of the group and forgiving.

Well, I finished watching Pocahontas 2: Journey To A New World and while I don't hate it as much as I did a few years il y a (back when I thought it was the worst Disney movie EVER), it's still pretty bad. I like some of the ideas plus than the execution *continues to type in comments* posté il y a plus d’un an

Unfortunately, it's trying to appeal to those dumbass historians that complained that the original movie was historically inaccurate and didn't realize the simple fact that Disney isn't supposed to educated but instead entertain people and that it's the teachers jobs to educate children. Anyway, it tries too hard to make it plus historically inaccurate but becomes contrived with a lot of other historical inaccuracies that clash with it, making it very clunky. The timeline is also pretty lazy because how would Pocahontas know that John Smith was dead if it had just happened but they a dit that much time had past since the news of his death? HOW? How is it that Ratcliffe managed to manipulated the King when he a dit himself he was never a populaire man and that Jamestown was his last shot? How was he able to go against the word of the other settlers that arrested him for treason? HOW? Plus Pocahontas and John Rolfe's relationship is very forced, contrived, and unnecessary. il y a plus d’un an
KataraLover commenté…
Rolfe's character development feels even plus forced than Smith's (who I felt was done decently) and doesn't even feel like he changed that much. The relationship with Pocahontas and Smith was destroyed par having her seem so emotionless with finding out he was alive and him no longer understanding her. WHAT IS THE DEAL? The only good things are the idea of Pocahontas going to London, the decent animation, the songs, the emotional goodbye between Pocahontas and Nakoma, Mrs. Jenkins, for the most part staying true to the characters, John Rolfe (who is a decent character), and that guy that never talks and has that stick. Overall, yeah, it's an awful movie but no where near one of the worst Disney movies. But it's definitely one of the worst Disney sequels. il y a plus d’un an

I agree that the movie is terrible, I seriously hate it so much, I don't even acknowledge it's existence. Although regarding the thing about historical accuracy, I think the reason people criticized Pocahontas's lack of historical accuracy was plus because John Smith in real life wasn't a very good person. Portraying him as someone that falls in l’amour with a Native American woman just doesn't make any sense for the real jerk he was.
