Brave is not the worst Disney/PIXAR combination movie, but it's definitely average. The soundtrack is underrated and offers nice gems. One thing that makes Brave less enjoyable is the "smallness" of Brave's plotline. The plotline just consists of a mother-daughter blaming argument that escalates over the entire movie, gradually growing more and more intense and hostile...until a horrible outcome ( human changed into bear) is achieved. Then the rest of the last act of the movie consists of undoing the damage. I guess, you could say, this movie is entertaining, if you aren't looking for a way to explore new worlds, to prove your own self-worth, or to fight prejudice. This movie also fits and entertains if someone doesn't really feel obligated to bring honor to his/her family. Merida is one of those self-assured heroines who doesn't have much of a story arc. Merida already has no qualms about staying who she is. Merida wants her fate to stay the same ( unmarried), and in the end, she isn't married. Her desired outcome is achieved. Marriage is not the true obstacle in the film, though. The true obstacle in the film is inhumanity being committed in order to win an argument. Merida wins, yes. But the manner in which she wins leaves me with a questionable moral: that you can simply hurt somebody else if you disagree with them, and they will just forgive you for it, and they won't resent you at all. I like the cast of characters in Brave ( and quasi-like Merida), but the moral of Brave is bothersome to me. Pocahontas and The Little Mermaid at least were all about treating family, and even total foreigners, with fairness and with respect even if you disagreed with them. Brave doesn't seem to have this as a moral, and that's why I just consider it an "okay" watch.

The best things about brave are its soundtrack and animation. Both are fantastic. I love looking at and listening to this movie. It actually has my favorite soundtrack of any Disney Princess movie! The story is ok, but could have been better. I liked the focus on a mother/daughter relationship, and how they both learn to listen to each other. I also appreciate that Merida really learns from her mistakes and apologizes in the end. That really packs an emotional punch for me. My issue with the film is that at the beginning it promises to be some grand adventure with its sweeping views of the Scottish landscape, but it definitely falls short of that. I would have preferred something more along the lines of Merida having to go on a quest to save her homeland, which seems to be what the very beginning of the film is gearing up for with the whole "fate lives within you" speech.

For a Pixar movie unfortunately it's average. The plot sometimes feels a bit rushed, and could've been better, but at least it shown us about parent-children relationship, that rarely being explored in most of DP even Disney movies. Merida and Elinor, both are really stubborn and egoistical, but I appreciate how both learn from their mistakes and apologized for each other. Their parent-children relationship is definitely the best among all Disney movies, so the average plot is toleratable.
Unless beside Merida and Elinor, most of other characters are kind of annoying and they're more like a comic relief. The animation is very realistic and detailed but it works on backgrounds only, with the characters, almost all of them looks too cartoon-y even for CGI animation in general. The soundtrack is nice. It stays in the middle of my favorite DP movies list.

The overall movie is boring to me. My favorite thing about is character of Elinor. She is extremely beautiful and charismatic, the most interesting Disney mother ever. I also love the landscapes and Merida's character design( it's very uncommon and unique). But while I love Merida's looks, I dislike her personality. Maybe she is good example that tomboys aren't always heroic and honorable but this is way she is a not character to root for. The plot is also pretty cliched.
