Same as before. I don't think she is a BAD Role Model, I just think the others are better.

Ariel is brave, adventurous, curious, nice, she has a realistic personality, and she saved Eric's life twice. She was the first independent princess, becoming an example for all the Disney princesses to come. She made a mistake like all the princesses did. Ariel left her family because she was going out to get what she wanted (she's the first princess to do that). And she felt that she was treated unfairly and that her father was thinking of humans unfairly. Jasmine left her father and her palace (where she needed to be queen) because she didn't like being told what to do. Ariel was 16, Jasmine was 18, she should have been a little wiser. When The Little Mermaid came out in 1989, Ariel was praised as a fantastic Disney role model. I don't think Jasmine is a bad role model at all, it's just if I had to choose one, I'd probably chose her. I like Jasmine a lot though.

I don't find her to be much of a role model. She doesn't seem very settled, and she seems to have a clingy personality. The abuse and isolation she suffered was probably just a little less than Elsa's.

Tiana would be next to go for me. Tiana has valued hard work all of her life, but has quickly dispatched forming any lasting relationships with others. I wish, oh how I wish--- Tiana would not always write-off other people's interests/dreams, or eschew their backgrounds as being inferior to hers. It's not a nice vibe from her. It takes the whole movie for her to stop being disdainful.

I know Merida for most of the movie acts like a brat, but that's the point- she has to realize how much trouble she's caused, own up, and fix it. So I have to go with Punz. I think being a good role model is about your intentions at heart and your moral choices and Rapunzel willingly goes against her own moral code just because she's forbidden to do something she really wanted to do. I have no respect for that at all. She herself says it's flat-out wrong because she truly believes Gothel has her best interest at heart but then does it anyway. Just because WE know how Gothel is doesn't mean Rapunzel does. She had as much reason to suspect and defy Gothel as we do our own moms and dads. I pretty much agree with all this: link

Uh, yeah.
Wait...did Elsa leave? Why? I'm just curious; how is she a bad role model? :)

^^ I think it's because she ran away and she didn't tell Anna the truth even after their parents were gone. I didn't think she was bad either. I actually think all Disney Princesses are really good role models. Elsa might have even have been better than Anna. Elsa struggled all on her own and learned to let go of her past. It's really hard to do that.

She is less of a character and more of a plot device. I can't see her imparting anything important to little girls aside from dream and maybe your dreams will come true. The fairies get more characterization than she does.

By far. Doesn't think about the consequences of her actions, rushes recklessly into dangerous situations, ignores the advice and warnings of people with more worldly experience than her, endangers herself and others without a scrap of remorse, etc.

I am sorry Ariel, but I have to pick you.

She left her family just to get her boy and make the underwater kingdom almost in disaster. When her father sacrificed himself to Ursula, she can do nothing but pulling the sea monster's hair. Why she didn't try to snatch the trident from Ursula? Then, after what she had done, her father let her be with Eric. She is very irresponsible yet lucky. Also she is often late at important ceremony just to do her hobby.

Why do I even take part in these countdowns? It's not like my pick would make a difference or anything.

@Manu: Same here. I'm thinking about not participating in these countdowns because both Ariel and Elsa get voted off SO DARN FAST. They're always the first to leave. Sigh.

How come Elsa is gone? I actually think she's a very good role model. She is a strong character and she teaches young girls to believe in themselves.

^^^ Wow, I thought I was the only one thinking this. For the most part I think someone is rigging the polls, maybe not the last poll because the comments matched up with the results but a lot of the other polls. I'm not sure what to do anymore. I could scream my opinions until my throat is numb but the results are always the same here. I also thought she was a very good role model. She stopped a kid in my middle school from killing himself (Have I told this story before? I think I did) She makes that big of a difference on people's lives. Maybe that kid was taking it to far but still. I know that she made an impact on a lot of kids going though depression.
