One of the subjects that interest me the most about films (including DP movies) is the box-office. I think that if used in the right way (I mean, inflation-adjusting things), it might be a good way to compare films and understed why they are populaire ou not. So I spent some time researching and I finally came up with the North American grosses of the 10 DP Movies. Hope toi enjoy my research, my commentaires and my images.

#10 - The Princess and the Frog - $107.7 million
If the word "flop" applies to any of the DP Movies, unfortunately, it's this one. The Princess and the Frog's marketing was very centered in the "return of traditional animation/fairy tale thing" and didn't consider that people might have Lost interest in this kind of movie. Though it didn't help that people created too much expectations, PatF really could have done better. Also we have to remember that it was released weeks before James Cameron's Avatar (currently the highest-grossing movie of all time) and Alvin and the Chimpmunks 2.

#9 - Raiponce - $199.9 million
If this liste wasn't inflation-adjusted, Raiponce would rank #2. But we are not considering the additional price of the 3D ticket and the inflation factor has been included. Raiponce was definetevely very sucessful, though not as much as its isolated numbers may seem to. It grossed twice as much as PatF and delivered Disney's biggest opening weekend ever, giving a new chance to the fairy tale genre. Part of the sucess may be explained par its marketing, that managed to expand the movie's audience.

#8 - Mulan - $204.2 million
Mulan was very sucessful upon its release, but not as much as the other DP renaissance movies. Maybe little girls avoided it because of the "China-War-Dragon" theme. Also, in 1998, the peak of Disney's renaissance was gone and after The Lion King, films started to gross less than Disney's "Fab Four" (which also includes The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin). However Mulan outgrossed non-DP films The Hunchback of Notre Dame(1996, $179.9 million) and Hercules (1997, $171.4 million).

#7 - The Little Mermaid - $210.3 million
Things were very hard for animated films back in 1989, when The Little Mermaid was released. It's even unfair to compare its gross with most of the other movies, because TLM had to "start from zero", while the other films found a Disney-confident audience. While it was possible to market Beauty and the Beast as "The movie from the studios that brought toi The Little Mermaid", Ariel didn't have such thing. However, even considering this, the movie isn't in the bottom 3 of the liste and that is already very impressive. In 1989, it was the highest grossing animated movie to rendez-vous amoureux, date (not inflation-adjusted).

#6 - Pocahontas - $258.4 million
People often refer to Pocahontas as a flop, but that's not true. The problem is that some anxious filmmakers were expecting the movie to go ahead of The Lion King's $592 million tally, and when the movie "only" grossed $258 million, they were clearly frustated. However, I'd say that the movie was mostly benefited par TLK's hype. If it had been released in other year, it certainly would be lower.

#5 - Beauty and the Beast - $312.5 million
Benefited par The Little Mermaid's hype, Beauty and the Beast managed to go ahead of that movie. The best picture nomination in the Oscars and the Golden Globe for best movie (Musical/Comedy) also helped the movie to gain interest, and to date, it beated TLM to be the highest grossing animated movie (not inflation-adjusted). With its 3D version release this week, the movie might even beat the #4 movie.

#4 - Cendrillon - $370.0 million
Disney's most populaire princess didn't make it to the podium of the highest-grossing movies. Of course it was very sucessful and saved the Disney Studios, but it's not the kind of movie people remember from the theaters. However, back in 1950, it outgrossed Snow White and remained as the top-grossing animated movie until Lady and the Tramp (1955, not inflation-adjusted).

#3 - Aladin - $416.4 million
I'm sure most of toi are surprised with this. Aladin was an enormous hit in 1992 and it outgrossed The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast par a very wide margin (maybe because it is plus attractive for boys). However, nowadays, Aladin isn't as populaire as TLM ou BatB. Also, if the liste wasn't inflation-adjusted, Aladin would rank #1.

#2 - Sleeping Beauty - $577.0 million
Another big surprise! Bad mouths may say that this movie was a flop, but there are no words against the numbers. Though it grossed less than Cendrillon and Snow White upon its original release, Sleeping Beauty managed to improve its gross with its re-releases over the years. Currently, it ranks #30 in the liste of the all-time movie grossers.

#1 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfes - $865.5 million
This definetevely wasn't a surprise. Disney's most populaire movie and a masterpiece from the cinema, Snow White became the biggest hit of all time upon its original release (though it was outgrossed par "Gone With the Wind" later). Currently, Snow White is among the haut, retour au début 10 all-time grossers with an impressive $865.5 million tally.

Anna:
Elsa?
(Knocking: Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock)
Do toi wanna build a snowman?
Come on lets go and play
I never see toi anymore
Come out the door
It's like you've gone away-
We used to be best buddies
And now we're not
I wish toi would tell me why!-
Do toi wanna build a snowman?
It doesn't have to be a snowman.

Elsa:
Go away, Anna

Anna:
Okay, bye...

(Knocking)
Do toi wanna build a snowman?
Or ride our bikes around the halls
I think some company is overdue
I've started talking to
the pictures on the walls-
(Hang in there, Joan!)
It gets a little lonely
All these empty rooms,

Just watching the hours tick...

Anna and Elsa are currently my least favori Disney Princesses. So let's talk about them, shall we?

Well, I have a neutral feeling about Elsa and I hate Anna, let me explain why.

I have a neutral feeling about Elsa because I feel like not only is her part in the movie annoyingly twisted (I know she's not supposed to be the antagonist, but when it comes to the end she's done just as bad as Hans has done. La Reine des Neiges does a HORRIBLE job explaining to toi about who the antagonist is. They probably think it's a cool twist but I don't think it is. Not only is it not clear about who the antagonist is,...

Ok, so I have a lot to discuss in the haut, retour au début section today. First, I would like to give Bellerose829 credit for thinking if this idea. Second, I will be using a different method, also thought up par Bellerose829. In this method, each Princess will start out with zero points, and will lose ou gain points from cartian things about their appearance. +1 means that the feature is nice, it adds to their beauty overall. +2 means that it is a great feature, adding plus to their beauty than a plus 1. +3 not only means it adds a lot to their beauty, but is a unique feature of the Princess that makes them...

Bonjour!
Today I am going to be telling toi the original fairytales before Disney retold them. (They're not necessarily the first, original versions of the stories but they are dark ones). toi might know most of these and that's cool, but in case toi didn't, here they are. Please note I have done some research - I'm not just making it up.
This article should probably be in the Disney Club, but the majority of these stories are Disney Princess and heroine stories. Besides, I like to get feedback and nice commentaires and I hardly ever get commentaires in the Disney club.
These aren't ranked ou in a countdown,...

Congratulations to CRaZy_rawR, our fan of the mois for January 2014!

1. How does it feel to be fan of the Month?
when I found out I was FOTM of January, I was estatic. c: It was really nice to know my contributions were appreciated in the club.

2. Your favori Princess and why?
It's Pocahontas! It's been this way for a while now. I l’amour what she stands for, her personality, her little quirks, such as her indecisiveness, and so much more. She is just amazing. <33

3. Your least favori Princess and why?
That unfortunate place belongs to Elsa. I just can't like her! Her backstory was meh,...
