Death Note Question

In the movie, if Rem never killed L then how come she died?

In the movie part 2 L wrote his own name in the death note before Rem so she never killed him and that means she shouldn't have turned into dust.

I think it was probably a mixture of an intending to thing and a movie being slightly inconsistent with what happens in the plot of the montrer itself thing. I could be wrong though.
