I hate it how Stelena is being named best couple and Delena best awkward/sexual tension couple.
What's awkward about them?
Do people only see them as plausible sex buddies and nothing else while Stelena as this true, mature and epic relationship.

Ok here's my theory:
Elena does comfort Damon, but it isn't because Rose died. If u notice, Elena has a the same chemise she wore in the promo when she's asking Stefan whether Rose will be alright. She also appears to have the same shoulder bag which can also be visible in the hug picture right below Damon's right elbow.

The CW marketing team is well aware of what the majority of the fans want, so when they want to promote the montrer they try to appeal to that majority to have them tune in week after week.
