Don't be sorry. toi are perfectly justified to feel that way about SE and how the Season has progressed so far. After all, the writers built up DE steadily for 22 episodes, and in one episode, they knocked them down flat. It was a déplacer that unnerved a lot of fans and didn't seem to make much sense, with some even thinking that DE wouldn't happen at all. I'm not exactly sure why Kevin and Julie decided that it would be an excellent idea to knock DE back to square one, and risk upsetting thousands of fans, but I can guess. 1). It slows down the l’amour triangle. It's got to last for most of the series right? That's a long time. Slowing down the triangle is a good thing (completely frustrating, but a good thing), because there are loads of SE/DB shippers who don't think DE will last the distance. One SE shipper I encountered described DE as 'a pot boiling over', in other words, that they wouldn't last. Bamon shippers are holding their breath hoping that as soon as DE are over, then Damon will fall in l’amour with Bonnie. 'DE can't possibly last for all that time,' they think. 'Damon's got to fall in l’amour with someone else.' The biggest clue that they're wrong is par what's happened so far. The writers definitely don't want to hurry DE. 2). Kevin and Julie have some idea that DE has the biggest fanbase. Rather than giving the audience what they want on a plate, they choose to prolong their fans anxiety par making them wait. It sounds cruel, but Kevin and Julie have plus power over their audience par doing this. They want people to tune in every week, and this is one way for them to reach fans. 3). It makes people who already l’amour DE l’amour them even more, and people who like them want to. 4). It turns DE into an epic l’amour story. No l’amour story was ever made epic in 10 episodes ou even one season. 5). It adds an unusual twist to the l’amour triangle, and as we all know, the producers l’amour that. Everyone knows the l’amour triangle is what TVD is all about (or if not, then it's what people want to see the most). Rather than having it happen in a conventional way, it's plus interesting for Elena to hate Damon first, and then somehow get past that. Also, it will be what a lot of people aren't expecting after 2x01. I don't know if any of those reasons comforted you, but don't worry about whether DE will be endgame at this stage, because it's far too early for anyone to know. But DE WILL happen. Have faith.
