Why a new video game would be better than a movie

When I heard the rumours of a Buffy movie I, like most fans, got caught up in all the excitement. Even though it's not happening as far as we know. But I actually think a new video game would be a far better idea.

Firstly, a movie if not done right has so many chances to go wrong and ruin people's memories of Buffy, but I don't see that danger in a game. If something toi hate happens in a movie it's cannon, but video games aren't. So they go with a plot toi dislike? not a problem it never happened.

Also, they can set it whenever they want. Your favourite character was killed off before the end? don't worry they're in the game.

I know they were planning to do a Nintendo ds game (As I don't have a ds I haven't a clue if they did) but frankly I think having the last ever buffy video game on only one platform is a huge screw to the fans.

In the only buffy game I own (chaos bleeds) they got a good amount of the actors to do their voices. Anya, Willow and Buffy were the only ones who didn't but I'm sure they would now. Emma Caulfield and Alyson Hannigan didn't because of schedule conflicts, which if the game wasn't rushed would be easy to work around. SMG didn't because she a dit she only would if they sent her a script before she agreed and they didn't. Now I've heard gripes about Sarah in situations like this (like not doing extras) but I think she was being perfectly reasonable. Why should she agree to do something without seeing a script? So as long as they sent her one she might be on board. Even if they couldn't get them (which I think they could, at least a good few) the girl who did buffy for the game was good. the only problem was, she did a great buffy but her willow and anya sucked. Easily solved though. Either get 3 impressionists ou get 1 who can do all 3.

Plus, look how far the graphics have come since chaos bleeds. I have included 1 pic of the chaos bleeds graphics and 1 of the new tomb raider's. A Buffy game would look awesome! (the tomb raider still I got isn't even a very good one, so it's even glacière looking!)

Finally, playing a buffy game would just rock (not the most intellectual of arguements, but still true)

Asvini I would love a Buffy game done like the 5th Harry potter game, where even though there is a plot and you move up through the game, you can roam around as you like and do some things in the order you want, while still having enough structure to make it a game with levels not just the sims. So a Buffy game were instead of just going through levels you can choose to go to the cemetary or spike's crypt or the magic box etc when you feel like it and deal with the challenges when you like. It would make you feel more like buffy if you could choose things like that, but there are certain things you have to do to move on and there is a plot. I would adore to get to go around sunnydale as I wanted, staking vamps as I please and getting the true 'being Buffy' experiance Also, how cool would a Buffy game on a wii be? you could do the fights and have the feel of staking vamps.

Bellona I'm not a big video game player, so you had some convincing to do with this, but you won me over. I think a video game would entertain me longer than a movie since you said you wanted other ideas here's one. Since the show ended with lots of slayers being activated, instead of being buffy you can design your own slayer. then I could play as a slayer who looked like me which would be all kinds of cool. Also, as a new slayer there would be a bigger learning curve, leaving space for the levels to get harder. there could be training sessions with buffy! But still in the style you mentioned were you can walk around and explore and do things when you want. Also, when I heard the last buffy game I thought it was cold to do it on only 1 thing too. It's not like most fans can say "I'll go buy one then", there are economic problems affecting us all. who can afford to buy a nintendo just for one game. You'd have to be rich. When I heard I was like 'way to stick it to the poor fans guys.'

scooby_gang oh i totally agree with you. although both would be great, if i had to make a choice deffinetly the game. with all this new technology to make better more advanced games, a new buffy game would be just so groundbreaking. if u recall the original buffy game that came out for the old xbox, that got great ratings, (but not the second one: chaos bleeds). if they would make a new one for the xbox 360's and ps3's, that could be the it game of the year...just like the original one was. i really hope that someone comes up with the idea of a new buffy game for the 21st century.

0oSquirto0 OMG I wish they made one for Xbox 360! I used to have the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer game on Xbox but upgraded to Xbox 360 and the games aren't copatible! I know they have made one for DS and Wii and playstation now but the DS one has really really bad graphics but I don't know about the story line. The Wii one would probably be awesome but I haven't actually seen it just heard of it.......
