im in a very bittersweet bl phase at the moment. this is one of the results.

IN ANOTHER LIFE

"It's a mystery, how we fall in love, who we fall in l’amour with, why we fall in love. But we do."

He's just like his father, she is just like her mother and neither one believes it no matter how many times their parents tell them. A lot of outsiders nod, yes, they are the spitting image of their respective parents but no, that's where the resemblance ends. Of course those outsiders don't know what they use to be like.

He's a quiet dreamer, over thinking everything with a rare smile and brooding eyes. He's a great romantic but something holds him back so he follows others when he shouldn't, doesn't when he should and settles far too much and nobody seems to realise. His life is his family, the written word and basketball, he's passionate but it's like an iceberg, toi only see the tip and the rest is hidden beneath an unseen depth. He doesn't say much but when he talks… it means something.

She's loud and blunt and sometimes rude, she charms with her dimpled smile and sparkling eyes that hide so much emotion. People either hate ou l’amour her, there is no in-between. On the outside she's cocky, on the inside there are doubts and insecurities that make her vulnerable. Her life is her loved ones, that's it. toi wouldn't know it though because she puts all of her self into everything she commits to, gives her self completely into the hands of others and never expects anything back. She has a reputation of being easy but she's hard, ou her cœur, coeur is anyway, and once you're in it though toi are there for life. It's a good place to be. She says a lot, too much, all the time, words spill so easily from her lips, when she's nervous, happy, paranoid, scared, they come out without thinking, just like her smile. If toi listen hard enough toi can hear everything she doesn't say and they are the things that mean something.

He has an idea of whom he should be, where his life is going, it's all planned out down to the girl of his dreams. Of course he's never talked to her. She has no idea who she will be but she knows who she is, the future is unplanned and she can't picture who will be par her side, there is no boy of her dreams, she's independent, she doesn't need people ou at least, she doesn't really realise she needs anybody else.

His father doesn't want his son to make the same mistakes he did though he's willing to stand back and watch this younger, different version of himself learn and grow through his own mistakes. Her mother watches with a knowing smile just waiting for life and l’amour to catch up to her daughter.

This is different, this support system they have. The way they are is not for the same reasons that their parents had. A father didn't abandon him; she didn't raise herself while her parents continued their unhappy marriage outside the accueil they left their daughter in. They are from two complete and happy homes.

They meet. He is broody and she is cheery. They don't really know each other, they don't really want to, and at first they underestimate each other. But she can make him smile and stop thinking and he can make her cry and become speechless. They'll fight it, at different times too, and others will come between them.

There's another girl and she is perfect for him. They think so anyway. There's no other boy that will compare to him but she's willing to look, not willing to settle. It'll hurt them both, it does hurt them both and they push and pull at each other.

They broke each other's cœur, coeur and at some point they've changed, they've changed each other. They may resemble their parents plus now, on the inside that is, for the world to see.

They think the other is amazing but can't say it to their faces, words are unsaid between them and they are both scared and can't see the other one is too.

Then one jour something gives, it might be because his father sits him down to talk and her mother takes her away from her new boyfriend and asks her what she is doing.

It might not be.

Not long after he's at her door and she's happy and not really surprised because she's been waiting for this for so long. Waiting forever.

He's just late.

Words spill from him and she is silent, he smiles the whole time and she has tears.

They Kiss and they make love, that's when they both know it's really forever.

At the wedding everyone is obscenely happy, no one plus so than the bride and groom. There are great speeches but nothing can really live up to the l’amour the couple share, nothing can fully explain how perfectly they complete each other.

Two sets of eyes meet each other across a table, they are knowing, and they smile at each other. His father and her mother. Later a song plays, it is 'Boston' par Augustana and his father and her mother leave their partners and it's almost par fate that they bump into each other. There is a laugh before they start dancing, he smiles the whole time and she has tears. They are happy, they are happy with each other and their lives.

They are both thinking about the last time they danced to this song that was also at a wedding, it was a goodbye then and it's a goodbye now too. Both times they sense it but they take the time to give themselves to this one song, to hold onto each other just one plus time.

It ends too quickly and air rushes between them. He is the only one to speak, "in another life" he says and she just looks at him. They know. Then they go back to their own.

He's just like his father, she is just like her mother only it is another time and another life, and there's a different ending.
