It was beautiful. I can’t think of a plus solid endgame. If toi think about it the flashforward scene cemented so much stuff:

Chuck is a ‘father in a way Bart never was’ (3.12):
He is affectionate- picks Henry up and swings him around
He compliments his son- “look how smart toi are”
He makes his son feel secure and loved- can toi picture baby Chuck shouting “Daddy!” and happily running into Bart’s arms? Pfft. Never.
Blair has finally found some success and power independent from any sort of romantic relationship with Waldorf Designs.
Blair has clearly grown in a major way since she has hired Jenny to work for her. Can toi imagine her doing that in the past? Never.
Both Chuck and Blair have grown as people since they’re holding Dan and Serena’s wedding in their townhouse (it shows they’ve let bygones be bygones with Dan and approve of the Derena union).

01. GAMES

I mean, obviously. Chuck/Blair has been a near-constant battle. Games were part of the foundation of their relationship ("You and I bonded over a mutual l’amour of scheming"), games were part of their undoing. Season 2 is inundated with dialogue about games and stakes, winning and losing. Games + Chuck and Blair's king and Queen pretensions = every chess and war cliche reference in the history of ever.

Also obviously, games aren't the point. S2's sabotage, schemes, wagers, and ~seductions are just a way for Chuck and Blair to channel their feelings for each other into a safer type of interaction. They lie that the game is what they both enjoy about their relationship, but they're really just afraid to be plus than frenemies.

BLAIR: If I say it then Chuck wins.
DAN: But... if toi say it then toi get him and toi win.
BLAIR: No, I lose.

CHUCK: I thought toi were ready to tell me how toi really felt. Obviously it was just another one of your games.

“I think the draw for me with Chuck and Blair was how unique they were to television. I admit to loving a very specific prototype couple before CB came along: the bad boy and the good girl. I liked the cliché redemption arc that always brought tears to my eyes. There was a comfort in knowing exactly how those couples and stories would play out, so I was reluctant to jump into the water with Chuck and Blair. He wasn’t just a bad boy, he was a bad, bad boy. He did despicable things and felt no remorse. And Blair… Well, Blair was the bad girl. She was the one toi root against in romantic relationships while the “good” girl sneaks in and gets the guy. So, it was to my utter surprise when I found myself wanting the baddies together. Their spark, their energy – it just exploded on screen. I liked that they were devious and manipulative, and that they could revel in that together. There was something very freeing about watching a couple that not only accepted one another fully, but really enjoyed one another.

Aaaaaand…we’re back!

CosmicLoveCB has many, many feels after watching the premiere of the final season of GG. First, it’s been a LONG TIME since we were interested in the story as a whole, rather than just wringing our hands and hoping against hope that Chuck wouldn’t end up killing himself par the end of each episode. So there’s that.

Lily wins World’s Worst Mom Award (although she is ironically the BEST mom to Chuck–not that the bar there is very high ou even existent) which is perfect considering that she has renewed her vows with the World’s Worst Dad. She SERIOUSLY hasn’t spoken to her daughter for an entire summer, and just assumes everything must be hunky dory? Wow. Rufus has surpassed even his ever-douchey son in douchiness and obliviousness, Dan got bitchslapped twice, Ivy is… icky, Nate is…RELEVANT (yes, toi read that correctly)–and Chuck and Blair? Well, their only flaw is being flawless.

From the very beginning of Gossip Girl, Chuck and Blair have had an inexplicable, intense connection. They were demonstrated early on to be matched in intelligence, cunning and wit, and after the infamous limo scene in 1.07, it became strikingly clear that they were (and still are) a perfect physical match as well. Although everyone knows that Chuck and Blair have always been destined for each other, they have suffered a couple of trouble spots in their union due mostly to précédant emotional immaturity and feelings of inequality, particularly in terms of their professions. We say précédant because they seem to be emotionally matched now as well as vocationally. Basically, Chuck and Blair are ready to take over the world.

In the past, Blair and Chuck seemed to take turns as the torch bearer of their love, as the one who was emotionally ready for what being together actually meant. Chuck and Blair were always plus than just dating ou sleeping together, ou whatever they were doing at the time—they were always going to be forever. Whenever things were going too smoothly, one of them—usually Chuck—would resort to some kind of self-fulfilling...

We made it, Gossip Girl fandom! We survived the Season of Pacts with God and “Inside.” In fact, “Inside” is so dead and buried at this point, even D-Humps is over it. Group hugs, Dom and peonies for all!

Pardon us while we attempt to collect our emotions. The season 5 finale had us feeling things all over the spectrum of feels, from smiling like idiots, growling in rage, moments of teary-ness, and of course, cheering like true Chairleaders. (There was also some yawning in there albeit briefly and only during scenes involving Lola and William). There was so much going on in this episode that we were literally stunned to silence for a few minutes after squealing over the final scene, asking ourselves (and each other) “What the fuck just happened?”

Can we first just say that Lily van der basse, bass Humphrey is a HBIC/BAMF who can do no wrong in our eyes? We LOVED her scene with Bart talking about how just because Bart was back didn’t make Chuck any less her child too. Seriously, who cares about Evelyn/Elizabeth when Chuck has a mommy...

2.25 After breaking up with Nate, she spends the whole episode trying to get him to say I l’amour toi and in the end gets together with him.

3.22 Throughout the whole episode she’s struggling with the choice, but in the end she goes to the Empire State Building, therefore choosing Chuck.

4.22 In the précédant episode, Louis had questioned Blair about their relationship, and when Chuck saves her and they have sex she decides she wants to leave Louis for him.

For anyone who is just tuning into Gossip Girl, allow us to briefly summarize the fifth season. For the first 21 episodes, Nate ran his big boy job, Serena sucked at life, and Chuck was sad. Blair planned a wedding to a royal drip that everyone and their mother knew wouldn’t last–we just didn’t think it would take THAT long. Blair was pregnant and then…wasn’t. Blair went straight from being married to the Prince of Monaco to having the most boring relationship ever with the King of Douche, Dan Humphrey.

Suddenly, in 5.22 and 5.23, the plot starts to move. Bart basse, bass is alive. We find out his reasons for faking his own death and Chuck (with the help of Blair and others) successfully schemes to imprison Bart’s attacker/competitor. Blair made a commitment to find herself and has spent the last two episodes at Chuck’s side. Serena admitted to temporarily being Gossip Girl and started sharing scenes with everyone again, including helping both Chuck and Blair. Basically, plus things happened in the past two episodes than the rest of the season. Our question for the GG writers is this: WHY 21 episodes of Louis and pandering to DB fans...

Things that give me a good feeling for Chuck & Blair in the finale

Leighton and Ed in Shanghai at Harry Winston
Sarah Goodman wrote the episode (she also wrote “if two people are meant to be together, eventually they will find their way back”, the Bar scene in 2x23, “I will always be your family” 3x13, etc.)
all the season 2 parallels
Blair can’t say ILY to Dan
She is there for Chuck, he was her priority in the last two episodes, even when D needed her.
“After everything we’ve been through, there’s no room for secrets, nor should there be. Whatever it is, toi can tell me, Blair.” Is that coincidence?? At the same time we witness all the trust issues Dan has with her, they lie to each other and they have secrets.
Dan & Blair never share real intimate moments, all they do is talk, talk, talk.
It’s not even the sex they don’t seem to have, but have toi ever seen them like this ou this ou this?? That’s strange, in my opinion & I say the writers do that on purpose.

We have just recovered from our anxiety attacks after watching 5.22. May we just say…holy motherfucking shit? We felt like this was the first episode of classic, genuine, Gossip Girl in a long, long time. We feel confident in saying that this was the best episode of the season, for a few reasons. Prepare yourselves for some sap people ’cause cosmiclovecb is bringing it.

Blair is back, bitches! Funny how being around Chuck, and Serena and Nate for that matter, does that. We loved Chuck’s reference to the “old Blair.” Chuck knew that Blair would be the one to crack the code. And Chuck could always crack Blair’s code. She was so protective of and concerned for Chuck that it was beautiful to watch; now if only she could start giving a fuck about Serena. Not to mention, she was quick, and snarky and just global, ensemble awesome. Plus, she looked hot as hell. But Blair isn’t the only one who’s back.

Wow. Just wow. Thinking back on our “In Defense of Blair Waldorf” post, this episode really didn’t help our case. Looks like Blair was a bit premature in saying she hit rock bottom in 5.19. NOW she has nowhere to go but up–please don’t consider that a challenge, GG Writers. What we saw in the newest episode was Blair at, quite possibly, the craziest point she has ever been. It seems that Claire Carlyle and Blair Waldorf are internally struggling to be the dominant persona, and the result is kind of a hot mess.

On the plus side, it’s good to see that the Waldorf in her is making a comeback, but the Carlyle side still isn’t going down without a fight. Blair has finally realized that she is not herself right now, so hommages to her for that. The Claire-Waldorf Beast led to her jouer la comédie hilariously AWFUL and we actually felt a bit bad for Dan in this episode. He is so clueless about what is really going on in her head, but he tries, he really does. She treats him like a blend of a gay BFF, a brother, and a lap-dog. We really feel like Dan has no idea what he has gotten himself into. It’s a good thing they’re...

All credit goes to cosmiclovecb!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we tuned in this week for yet another episode of “Inside” meets “The Chuck Bass/Maury Povitch Crossover Show.” The episode had it’s ups–Nate appearing to give not just one, but two fucks about his best friend again– and lows–anytime Claire and Dylan conversed pretentiously on our screens. Which was a lot.

Basically, Dan and Blair threw a boring party and were boring hosts with their boring relationship, continuing to bring out the boring worst in each other with their boring breakup looming. There has to be a reason why the writers are making DB into the worst couple yet on GG and considering that terrible couples on this montrer include Vanessa and Scott, that’s saying a LOT. Blair is so out of the loop right now, it’s ridiculous. And why we think it’s upsetting that Blair no longer seems to care about anyone anymore, we are waiting patiently for 5.22, when she most likely will start to remember who Blair Waldorf really is and reevaluate her priorities.

April 13 at 06:35PM EDT par Melinda Taub @ Wetpaint.com

Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester). Blair and Chuck. They are, perhaps, the most beloved romance in all of Gossip Girl history. With Season 6 possibly wrapping up their love/hate l’amour story (whether it'll be with a pretty bow is yet to be determined), we take a look back over every fate-driven moment of Chair’s complex l’amour story.

Season 1

The limo
Where it all began. For two such classy people, gettin’ it on in the backseat is pretty out of character — even if it is the backseat of a limo. But Chuck always brings out Blair’s wild side, which is why they’re so good together.

The necklace
Both Chuck and Blair are too intent on ruling the world to admit how much their hookup means — but Chuck says it the Upper East Side way: with a mad-expensive present and about half an heure of neck-stroking. Blair is still fixated on Nate, and Chuck is still fixated on never loving anyone ever, but it’s clear their feelings are too strong to ignore.

After watching this episode, we feel like our recap will read plus like Chuck basse, bass Appreciation Post Part 500 ou whatever, because damn. He’s just that awesome. From rocking a red onesie jumpsuit, to proving yet again that he is plus serious about Blair’s happiness than even Blair herself, he was the shining étoile, star of the show.

We loved Chuck in his onesie–Seriously, who else could pull that off?–and his man-bonding session with Nate at the beginning of the episode. We also loved the callback to early seasons of Chuck and Nate playing sports together–it actually felt like Gossip Girl. However, Nate is officially on notice with us right now. Telling Dan about the dowry, knowing that Chuck NEVER wanted Blair to know about it? We know you’re super busy with your blog and doing Serena’s sister and all, but Chuck is supposed to be your number one bro, bro.

It was so nice to see Serena being a friend/sister to Chuck, albeit briefly, when he needed someone and had absolutely nobody to turn to. Can we PLEASE get plus of these lovely Chuck and Serena scenes? They are the only ones who can even guess as to what...

Dorata: Miss Blair, toi no longer held hostage par evil Prince Louis.
Blair: Oh yay! Now I can really get my hands on that wild forest atop my boyfriend's head!

Nate: No one is ready for that jelly. Why can't I have a onesie?
Chuck: Cause you're not Chuck Bass.
Nate: Wah, problems with Lola.
Chuck: I have a kangourou tattoo.
Nate: ...........
Serena: What are toi gonna do now that you're free of the French Terminator?
Blair: Screw your ex, DUH!
Serena: Oh right, I'm happy for you. Too bad toi can't be a princess anymore.
Blair: Wait! HOLD UP, BITCH! I didn't think this through!
Serena: I don't wanna be loved par anyone so I'm gonna force Lola to take my place as New York's most famous person that's famous for being slutty and blonde.
Blair: Yea, sure.

So, since the writers started smoking pot to help with their creative process, I've been seeing CB fans all over the internet complaining about how crappy the montrer has become. And don't get me wrong, I'm one of those people complaining about what a mess they've made. But plus recently the commentaires coming from some of these CB 'fans' have been annoying me. Some say it's times like this that bring a fandom together, but I don't think that's the case for CB fans. I think that this crisis has only served to montrer who the real fans are. And it's a little scary to me how few we are.

Not only here, but on other sites too, I've seen commentaires like "Blair's been a total bitch. Chuck deserves better" ou "OMG! I hate Blair so much. I don't think I can even ship Chair anymore." And to those people I can only say don't! If that's how toi feel, don't call yourself a CB shipper anymore, because toi aren't. You're just a Chuck fan who wants him to end up with Blair because he loves her ou whatever. Don't go on sites dedicated to Chuck and Blair's relationship if toi can't stand 50% of this ship anymore.

I know a lot of the chair fans are dying right now with this whole stupid Dair thing (I still can’t believe she’s with lonely judgmental boy) anyways but 5x19 just proved to me Blair is still in l’amour with chuck even if she’s denying it. Now I’m not saying she doesn’t care about Dan ou even l’amour (ewwww) but that doesn’t mean she’s not in l’amour with chuck too because she is. It so obvious, when chuck came to ask her for conseil about Elizabeth she immediately accused him of having an ulterior motive and even though he was honest with and told her he only came to her as friend, as someone who been through with him in one of the most hardest times in his life she still didn’t believe him because she NEEDS him to have an ulterior motive, she NEEDS him to be the bad guy that gets in her way because if he’s not then he still the guy that she fell in l’amour with long time il y a and if he is she can never be completely happy with Dan knowing the l’amour of her life is still out there, it much easier to make herself believe that she didn’t walk out on true love, that Dan is not a settlement that Dan is not her seconde choice not her first. She trying to connives herself that he...

Because we l’amour you, we took one for the team and settled in to watch this episode of–supposedly–Gossip Girl. Before we get into actually reviewing the episode, can we just say that we’re confused as to which montrer we’re watching since the two main characters did not share a SINGLE scene together? We’re not exaggerating — Blair and Serena failed to be in the same room at any point during 5.18. The closest thing we got to a Serena/Blair scene was Blair bitching to Humps about Serena walking into their shared magical bathroom and interrupting their terrible sex. How dare Serena use the bathroom! Doesn’t she know Blair is trying to get it in with the l’amour of her BFF’s life? Although really, what would they talk about? Would Serena give Blair pointers on how to have sex in a Brooklyn loft? This storyline is the worst, but ANYWAY.

Furthermore, Chuck only had scenes with Jack basse, bass and as much as we loved loved loved their scenes other, we felt robbed of our token Nate/Chuck and Lily/Chuck scenes. As Dan opens up to Nate about the terrible sex between him and Blair, we started questioning Nate’s Chair shipper status....

1. Why is he promoting DB and ignoring Chuck and Blair?
Uh. Becuase the suivant 6 episodes are about DB, couple wise but of course not entirely. Because THEY are the ones in the relationship right now if nothing else. Not Chuck and Blair. But of course "Chuck and Blair ARE NEVER OVER and THEY have ALWAYS a CONNECTION".

Think of it this way: Expecting him to talk up Chair is equivalent to a Derena fan expecting Savage to talk about Derena right before the seconde half of S3. Of course she didn't. She talked about Danessa and Serenate because they were the stories right then. Serenate was GOLDEN COUPLE remember? They were talking about Danessa like they are talking about DB right now. Remember those days (sigh).

2. Why won't JS give CB fans hope?
Once again, think of it like this: That would be like Savage telling Derena fans to "Just hold on kids because in 8 plus episodes Dan and Serena are going to Kiss and completely tear apart Dan/Vanessa and Serena/Nate!"

If there is one thing we know about the GG Writers, it’s that they get off on causing pain for Chuck. When they need a plot device in order to déplacer vers l'avant, vers l’avant a storyline, throwing Chuck under the bus is their go-to move. What’s that toi say? Chuck is happy? Let’s bring his mom back for the sole purpose of ruining his relationship with Blair. Oh? toi need to hommage Dan and Blair’s budding romance? Let’s put Chuck in a coma. Having observed and been thoroughly fascinated par Chuck for over four and a half seasons, we are amazed par all he has overcome despite the amount of shit that has been thrown his way.

Although Chuck has a reputation of being the resident bad boy of the UES, there is so much plus to him than a naughty streak. He has plus depth and cœur, coeur than perhaps anyone else on the montrer (other than perhaps Blair — they might be equally matched here, at least historically speaking). Unlike anyone else on the show, Chuck has grown exponentially since Season One. Yes, he was born a billionaire, but Chuck is living (fictional) proof that money can’t buy happiness, nor does it replace actual human l’amour — which is...

Okay, there are lots of unsavory “spoilers” going around right now, revolving around the death of One Chuck Bass, and we have lots of thoughts of this topic. To save yourself the trouble of reading, here is the short version of our ramblings: “Um, no.”

First and foremost, what would Gossip Girl be without Chuck Bass? The Dan and Blair rom com? Excuse us while we vomit. Chuck ties everyone together; he’s the l’amour of Blair’s life, Serena’s brother, Nate’s best friend, and Dan’s superior in every way imaginable. What would Nate do without him? Sleep with every guest étoile, star EVER, that’s what. Half of his scenes are with Chuck, mostly pointing out how awesome Chuck is and how Chuck and Blair are meant for each other! And why have the Diana Payne/Bart basse, bass connection if they were just going to kill him off? There’s plus to that story for sure — without Chuck, who gives a flying fuck? suivant to the Serena and Blair friendship (which is pretty much DOA at the moment), Chuck basse, bass IS Gossip Girl. When Ed Westwick is filming GG scenes, people FLOCK to the set. When they need...

“Closure: the unattainable goal.” ~ Chuck Bass, 4.08 “Juliet Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”

As per usual, Chuck’s above quote speaks the truth, particularly when it comes to him and Blair. Throughout the course of the show, there have been several moments between them that could have been perceived as “closure” and while this may have stuck had they been any other couple, in each scenario, the end result has only solidified the cold, hard FACT that “Chuck and Blair are never over.” Although we have touched on this in précédant blogs, we would like to take a few moments to expand on these scenes and explore their glorious aftermath.

4.02- “I don’t l’amour toi anymore.” ~ Blair

Ah, the train station scene. So much beauty, so much heartbreak and wistfulness. So much the end of CB, right? Although this scene could very well have been the end based on the above quote, and the history it stemmed from, it is clear at the same time that Blair, in fact, DOES still l’amour Chuck. It’s obvious par the tears in her eyes and the l’amour that is still apparent there, and...
