I really liked them. I think Korra's being a bit overly cocky and sassy and all, but it doesn't bother me so much because her heart's in the right place this time, she's just going about it in a stupid way. I'm actually enjoying Mako this season (that scene where he's lire those one-liners to Korra cracked me up, I really hope they do plus stuff like that). The animation in season 2 is downright gorgeous. From the movement, to the environment, to the designs...it's rare to see a montrer with such visual quality. I just wanted to talk about character hate for a second. Although this won't stop all character hate, I just want to remind toi that the writers and directors (Michael Dante, DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Ki Hyun Ryu) put a lot of hard work into these characters and the plot.
