Complete Lack of Arwen - Merlin Official Twitter

Now, the majority of toi have seen the first few episodes of Merlin and it is glaringly apparent that ARWEN is a non-starter this season. I think in all honesty and politely we need to tweet merlinofficial and let them know our displeasure.

This is unacceptable. We are the majority of the audience for God's sake and our OTP is intentionally on every level being pushed aside and doing it to the point where it has become so obvious and ridiculous.

It is clear that they want no interaction for the couple. The only interaction must be with Arthur and Merlin and this is not only lopsided it is gravely twisted.

We should let them know this is not only unhealthy it is in actuality offensive. If this is what they call a mature improvement God help us and I sincerely hope there is not a 6th season of this rubbish actually, at this rate there will be no 6th season and for this, some of us are thankful cause this is just so badly done.

Right, back to the point, if toi feel as quite a few of us do, politely, emphasis on politely send your tweets with your displeasure.

Lucerne28 Just sent my tweet to Merlin official regarding disappointment over the lack of Arwen. Fingers crossed that the remaining 10 episodes have some good Arwen scenes. Trying to stay positive. Like someone said on this board, we have the picnic scene to look forward to. We also have the nightgown Angel was wearing in June in Pierrefonds, hopefully that will be a meaningful Arwen scene; we will have a frantic Arthur searching for his wife after she is kidnapped by Morgana (thus showing, instead of telling us how much he loves Gwen) and Arthur trying to break the spell.

LadyLoraine I wrote them a tweet in which I make clear, that I really miss the interaction between Arwen. I mean, we had nearly NOTHING!!! I know it's just the third episode... but the series has only thirteen episodes!!! And I expected much more, after they are married. I mean, I love the fact, that Gwen has more action on her own and not just as love interest - but that doesn't mean, that they have to take all the romance out. -.- But I hope for more Arwen in the next episodes... gladly I am an optimist.

Strangesista Episodes may have already been shot but editing is ongoing down to the week before an episode airs.Since there are usually A/G scenes that are deleted tweeting and letter writing can still make a difference, unless we are ignored just because.

EPaws Entirely agree. I actually very much suspect that in place of spoons and glove slapping Arwen scenes were removed as per usual unessential. I am beginning to have firm theories about the group making this series and it actually doesn't say much for them. What they wanted to project would sell to no one worth their salt so they had to go about it covertly. I agree, keep up the work ladies.

Bonne-Bell Okay, we know that H. Overman gets Arwen and has written beautiful episodes for them in the past. Last year, in 4x03, he gave us that scene of them talking about magic in the hallway (which was cut), that adorable scene of Arthur leading Gwen from Uther's room (which was also cut), and an exchange of glances between them during Arthur's coronation (which was never filmed). And those editors did all that just so they could sideline Arwen and have a Merthur episode. So the chances that the editors did this again to one of his episodes is highly likely. I know that some of us want to remain positive and I'm perfectly fine with that. But I find what they're doing to be very insulting and I don't want to stand for it any longer. Strangesista is right. While they've finished filming the episodes, the editing is still ongoing so just because we saw Arwen scenes being filmed in PF doesn't mean that we're going to see them on screen and they're not going to end up on the cutting room floor. So we need to be a bit more proactive and stop putting up with this shit if we don't want to end up with more Arwen light/Arwen free episodes.

HumbleQueen I just sent a very polite tweet as well and said I enjoyed various aspects of first three eps except lack of king and queen interaction and hoped to see more of their marriage coming up. Something like that. As you guys know, I too am trying to be positive about the future but the truth is what I saw on Saturday concerned me. Like I just told a friend in an email, perhaps it's because I've been into Downton Abbey lately and see how well the writer integrates the various relationships and concurrent storylines that is making this more glaring to me. Honestly it is rather pathetic the more I think about it and so very lacking in maturity. As I keep repeating, maybe they just can't do any better and also I remind myself that this IS a fantasy show and much of the audience is older children and younger teens who would never catch this sort of thing. Those of us who are married or in good solid relationships would be hit harder by this sort of offensive treatment of a married couple. Actually, they focus on specific one at a time aspects of Arthur. I feel Gwen's turn is coming again, but that is pathetic to segment it. To change how they operate now is not something we should expect, but letting them hear from us, as long as we are respectful, can't hurt. I repeat. I am pretty confident it won't be this bad for the entire season, but thanks for bringing up the fact that editing continues up to the week Strangesista, because that could very well be quite important in this. We are still waiting for that scene with the arm in arm courtyard walk. :(

hopeful377 I am in total agreement of this article. I fell in love with the show because of the tender Arwen moments and this season I feel like the rug has been swept from under me. I tweeted earlier because I do not like the direction the show is headed in. Why end season 4 with a much anticipated marriage and give us nothing so far in season 5. It seems as if this is intentional. Who are they trying to please? So frustrating!

EPaws At this juncture the S1 and S2 folks who never caused the show to gain prominence at all. LOL! IN short the stagnant monster of the week crew who had nothing to do with its worldwide growth, or ratings growth across the english speaking world. Very logical.
