Yesterday world no.2 Andy Murray won the final of Wimbledon 2013 against World No.1 Novak Djokivios.Amazing techniques,he has fallen and risen always bouncing back and apparently he is in the running for a knighthood from the Queen. He made even plus history yesterday as the first British man in 77 years to win a Wimbledon final.I think his whole family is proud of him including his girlfriend because as I was watching the match she looked like she was about to explode with the shear fright fighting thinking he was going to lose.
I’m back in the UK now and I’m still disappointed about my defeat at the US Open, I know I had a good chance this year.
I’ve had a few days to reflect on the match and I know I didn’t play near the level I’m capable of. Having a dit that, full credit to Stan who played a great match, he’s a haut, retour au début player, has a solid game and played very well, sometimes toi have to give credit to the other player.
par and large, my record in the Slams has been pretty good this year, a Final in Australia and a Wimbledon semi-final. But rest assured, no-one is trying harder than...
Q. toi seem to have run into the Roddick of 2003. Were toi expecting that?
toi always expect your opponents to play well, especially at this stage of the tournament. And he served great. Served really, really well in the tiebreaks. I think he maybe missed two first serves.
The seconde one wasn't until 6‑4 in the tiebreak. He was serving really well at the start. And I had a few chances, toi know, in the first tiebreak. I had chances early in the third set. I didn't take them.
Q. What are your thoughts after that match?
I thought it was good. Played well. Played maybe two bad service games, but you're always going to have acouple of moments like that in five‑set matches. I came through all the tough situations well. I played a solid tie-break, and I was obviously very happy to win in straight sets, because he's been playing very well.
Q. What did toi feel was the key, especially at the end of that seconde set?
Congratulations Andy on becoming the first Britain to win Wimbledon in 77 years, Dumblane must be extremely proud of their Scottish son, I know I started chant Scotland the Rebelle as I thought this song was very appropriate in the way toi played your tennis match - fearless and like a terrier with a bone toi refused to give up. Hopw toi win many plus Grand Slam titles.
